Shazam! Fury of the Gods is the newest DC film to arrive to theaters. Gifted with the abilities of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster children are navigating the complexities of balancing teenage life with their superhero alter egos. As a vengeful trio of ancient gods descends upon Earth, seeking the magic taken from them in the past, Shazam and his companions find themselves thrust into a high-stakes battle for their superpowers, their existence, and the destiny of the world.

The Good

In Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Zachary Levi brings charisma and humor to the forefront, effortlessly stealing the show with his impeccable comedic timing and endearing personality. As the story unfolds, the audience is treated to not only laugh-out-loud moments but also a subtle focus on family values. The film strikes a perfect balance between humor and heartfelt moments, making it a delightful and family-friendly film that resonates with audiences of all ages.

The Bad

Regrettably, Shazam! Fury of the Gods tends to lean into an overly silly tone, sacrificing narrative coherence for slapstick humor and absurd scenarios. The excessive silliness becomes a distraction, diminishing the potential impact of the storyline. While humor is appreciated, the film's reliance on exaggerated antics and cartoonish elements risks alienating more mature audiences seeking a more balance movie.

My Overall Opinion

I give Shazam! Fury of the Gods a 5.5 out of 10.

  Talk to Me is the newest scary movie to hit theaters. A group of teenagers discover that they can use an embalmed hand to communicate with the dead. The experience is addicting and they soon relish the thrill to keep using the hand. Unfortunately, their game had frightening supernatural consequences. What follows is  The Good, The Bad, and The Spoilers  of  Talk to Me . The Good I love a good horror movie, sadly a lot of horror movies over the last few years focus on jump scares more than the actual story. However, Talk to Me does a great job delivering an original story, filled with more chilling moments, then actual jump scares. (There are still plenty of those) The story is intriguing and will keep you questioning what is real and what is not throughout the entire film.   By far my favorite aspect of this movie is the ending.   The Last Voyage of the Demeter sailed into theaters this past weekend. This movie gives life to the captain’s log in Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. The crew of the merchant ship Demeter sailed to London, as they have countless times before. What should be a routine job and hefty bonus, soon becomes a fight for survival as the crew learns that there is a monstrous presence aboard. What follows is  The Good, The Bad, and The Spoilers  of  The Last Voyage of the Demeter . The Good While the story The Last Voyage of the Demeter is based on excerpts from a classic horror novel, the idea to bring these logs to life was genius. This film provides a story to the events that took place over a single chapter in the novel. While those of us who have read the novel know how the story will end, it did not change the intrigue in seeing how the story would play out.
