Abigail

The newest horror movie of 2024, Abigail, arrives in theaters this weekend. A group of aspiring criminals kidnaps the 12-year-old daughter of a powerful underworld figure, holding her for ransom in a secluded mansion. However, their plan begins to unravel when they realize their young captive is, in fact, a bloodthirsty vampire.

What follows is The Good, The Bad, and NO Spoilers of Abigail .

The Good

Abigail is a fresh and original entry in the vampire horror genre. While it incorporates classic horror movie archetypes, it manages to maintain a unique appeal. The balance of comedic relief through the characters' interactions, alongside the horror and violence, creates an engaging and enjoyable viewing experience.

The Bad

The biggest downside to this film was that some of the characters felt underdeveloped and lacked depth. It's unclear whether this is due to the actors' performances or a general lack of backstory. While poor decision-making is a common trope in horror films, it can be frustrating to watch characters make choices that feel unrealistic or inconsistent with normal behavior.

My Overall Opinion

I give Abigail  a 8 out of 10.
